Walter Afanasieff Recognized with Grammy and Hall of Fame Nods

2024 has been quite the remarkable year for Walter Afanasieff, the legendary producer, songwriter, and esteemed mentor at ISINA, whose nearly 40-year career has defined pop music’s greatest moments. This year, Afanasieff found himself at the center of two significant honors: a Grammy nomination and a nod for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Afanasieff was nominated for the 67th Grammy Awards in the category of Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Love Will Survive”, a collaboration with Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Charlie Midnight. The song, performed by Barbra Streisand, is featured in the series The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

Earlier this year, “Love Will Survive” also earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, further highlighting the song’s impact across the entertainment industry.

This Grammy nomination adds to Afanasieff’s impressive awards history. He previously won the 1999 Grammy Award for Record of the Year for producing Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and the 2000 Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

In addition, Afanasieff is one of the nominees for the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining icons such as Eminem and Janet Jackson on the prestigious ballot. Known for his timeless classics like “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, “Hero”, “One Sweet Day”, and “License to Kill”, his work has defined an era and cemented his legacy as one of the industry’s most influential creators.
