Incubus, Lollapalooza, and Steve Rifkind to Be Honored at Music Forward Foundation Awards

Music Forward Foundation’s second annual awards brunch will take place at City Club Los Angeles on Sunday, October 6. This year, the spotlight will be shined on some truly remarkable figures in music, including Incubus, Lollapalooza, and Steve Rifkind. The event is all about recognizing the people and organizations that are making a difference in music and beyond, supporting both creativity and philanthropy.

Honorees and Awards

Incubus will be honored with the Tour Award for their fantastic music and the impactful work they do through the Make Yourself Foundation, which they established back in 2003. This foundation supports a range of important causes, from sustainability and disaster relief to arts education.

Lollapalooza is set to receive the Festival Award for its incredible transformation of the music festival scene. Since launching in Chicago’s Grant Park in 1991, Lollapalooza has become a global sensation, blending genres and featuring multiple stages. It also gives back to arts education in Chicago public schools through the Lollapalooza Arts Education Fund, with initiatives like Immersion Day and the Lollapalooza & Sueños Festival Job Fair.

Steve Rifkind will be presented with the Executive Award, handed out by Grammy-winning musician and producer Eric Krasno. Rifkind has been a key player in the success of hip-hop icons like Wu-Tang Clan, Remy Ma, and Mobb Deep through his work with Loud Records, SRC Records, and Spring Sound.

BMG will receive the Corporate Award for its dedication to creating fair opportunities for the next generation of music industry professionals. Since 2020, BMG has partnered with Music Forward to provide diverse youth with paid internships and mentorships.

Gina Belafonte and Sankofa.org are set to receive the Community Award, presented by actor Jesse Williams. Founded by the late Harry Belafonte, Sankofa.org empowers artists to create meaningful social change and tackle social justice issues head-on.

Brooklyn Bowl, co-founded by Peter Shapiro in 2009, will take home the Venue Award. With locations in Brooklyn, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Philadelphia, Brooklyn Bowl has become a leader in sustainability and was the first bowling alley to achieve L.E.E.D. certification, thanks to its use of wind-powered lights and recycled materials.

Impact and Legacy

For over 30 years, Music Forward Foundation has made a significant impact on society, transforming the lives of more than one million young people and providing over $42 million in scholarships, workforce opportunities, and relief funds. The organization is committed to building a more inclusive and diverse music industry. Last year, their inaugural events raised over $350,000 to support young talent in the music scene.
